“My Maps” is a service run by Google Maps that allows users to create and save custom maps. These maps can be annotated using landmarks, routes, custom shapes, text, and more. This customization allows you to create maps for special purposes. After you use our Google Maps Generator, you can publish it for all to see or keep it for your own private use. You can also embed this Google Map onto your website.
- Log into your Google account.
- Create a new personalized map.
To begin creating your map, go to the Google Maps home page. Below the Google Maps logo, click the “My places” link. From the options that appear, click the “Create New Map” button. Give your map a title and a brief description using the available text boxes, and then choose to make your map public or private.
- Add placemarks to your map.
The button showing a blue teardrop shape is the placemark tool. To use it, zoom your map in until you can clearly see the location you want to indicate. Click the placemark tool button, and then click on the location. A window will appear allowing you to give your placemark a title and a description.
- Add routes to your personalized map.
The button showing a bent blue line has 3 options: it can use for drawing lines, shapes, or routes. Click on the button and select the “Draw a line along roads” option from the drop-down menu. To start drawing a route, click once on a road. Drag your mouse along the route, clicking at each turn to lock the route into place. Double-click at the end point of the route to complete it. You will be asked to give your route a name and description.
- Add shapes to your map.
Select the “Draw a shape” option from the line tool button. Click somewhere on the map to begin drawing your shape. Continue moving your mouse and clicking to define the edges of the shape; connect it to its start point to finish it. Shapes can be given titles and descriptions as well.
- Add photographs or videos to your personalized map.
In the description box of each placemark, route, line, or shape, you can embed media of your choice. Inserting an image is done by clicking the “Image” button above the description box and typing the URL of the image. Embedding video can be done for YouTube videos by simply typing in the video’s URL.
- Save your finished map.
When you are done editing your map, click the “Done” button in the left panel. You can always edit it later by returning to it through the “My places” menu. As mentioned before, you can embed this Google map onto your website. Another way to create a map, is to use the Google Maps generator.
Why Embed Maps In The First Place
Embedding maps into your website is one of the most advisable choices you could possibly make depending on the sort of site you are trying to run. If you are running a website for your business, for a travel agency, an affiliate site like utanspelpaus.se, for a real estate firm, or really just anything that might possibly have a use for the handy features of a map, you need to embed google maps.
A lot of it has to do with convenience for your users and more visitors to your sites. If you are offering products and services that require physical interaction, your users are going to want to go to the actual place. A map would go a long way towards helping them find that place instead of having to figure out directions through your contact details.
Users don’t tend to stick around a website when it doesn’t make things as easy for them as possible. This applies to navigation of a website and navigation of a map, which Google Maps makes incredibly easy. Besides, it’s not like creating a custom map for your business or your website is even that difficult. You get so much in return for so little work, so why shouldn’t you try it out?
Finally, Google is a lot friendlier to websites that embed google maps when it comes to indexing and rating them for trustworthiness which has become rather important for visibility on the search enginge these days. This, of course, is important when you run a business with a physical location and webpage. Still, one can also argue that it might be even more critical if you run an online business since it helps with the trust required to purchase something online. In other words, since it is so easy and helps build trust, you should just give it a shot and see what happens.
If your website is a business type website, embedding google map is the best decision to make. Products and services offered by your website or blog can be easily accessed when the actual location is clearly shown via google maps. Google maps offer satellite images of streets, real time traffic conditions and routes. It does not only offer mapping services but also offer step by step navigation and route planning options. Google maps is best in getting customer reviews such as hotels and restaurants to enable customers to decide where to visit.
Make It Easy For Customers to Find Your Business
Whether you run an Etsy or physical store, customers should easily find your business location. If they can’t quickly find this information, your business might be losing hundreds of clients each day because many online buyers are unwilling to buy from a company they are not sure exists.
You can use Google Maps to provide location details of your business to customers. The service is free and comes with several benefits. One of them is you get free advertising because every time someone in your area searches for a product you offer, you appear in their Google Maps search results.
If they click to see your business location, you’ll be driving highly geographically targeted traffic to your website. If you have an excellent product converting this traffic to paying customers won’t be difficult.
